Self-Development - Poem

Self-Development -Poem

I found my peace in a place I ran from every day,

The fear of being selfish some would say,

But how can I help you see,

If I can't free me,

I took a step back,

What did my life lack?

The excitement had gone & the motivation was low,

I was moving so slow,

I looked for signs everywhere,

Often leading to despair,

Yourself to others you shouldn't compare,

Just offer all you can and fill the world with the love you want to share,

From dreams to moving forward- it was a blur,

Into my shoulder negative words to myself I would slur,

For I felt I served no purpose only existing not living,

Myself I was never forgiving,

We can't control many things it seems,

But we DO have control of our dreams,

We are given two choices to take the risk and go,

Or play the victim and feel low,

Life is short and so incredibly precious so take the time to see,

This is the time to find 'me',

It isn't selfish but empowering,

In kindness and motivation- you I am showering,

For me- I am rebuilding my walls,

Owning my flaws,

Realising there is more to life than being defined by a label or my health,

I already have all the wealth,

The friends and close circle with me for the ride,

Always and forever by my side,

Through all the storms we weather,

Strong together,

I have rewritten my CV into the girl I want others to look up to,

You can do this too,

What is in your way?

Don't care what they say,

Your worth isn't defined my social media or what others may say,

You work on yourself everyday,

To become the person you want to shine,

'I AM FINE.'

The phrase with so many mixed and coded messages to unlock,

Negative energies choose to block,

For you know you,

And all the work you do,

Here and there,

Our days may end in despair,

Nobody is immune,

We have to accept the light with the gloom,

Be the sun in your own life so you can be the sun in others too,

Don't discredit - YOU,

The neglect you put yourself through,

Switches your mood blue,

I am rebuilding and repairing every day,

No matter what people say,

I put in the work and I am learning,

My fire within my soul is burning,

As no matter how many times life tries to knock me down,

Whatever they say about me around town,

It is the rise that matters that is the proof and the evidence doesn't lie,

So have a little cry,

Wipe the tears,

Get ready to face the fears,

For the buzz from unlocking the door and stepping outside of your comfort zone,

Show a clearer view of success than any footage from a drone,

I am proud,

I have learnt to dull the negative sound,

That likes to play on repeat,

To my own movie- I took a seat,

To learn how to improve and what to make better,

Because I am a go-getter,

For all you see now,

Began from a girl who was lost and didn't know how,

There is no better time than today,

Small steps every day,

Work towards your goals in some special way,

On a rope between trees you may sway,

You will know where you belong,

You just have to take the risk and be strong,

Accept the pain & mistakes,

To chase your dreams to achieve them whatever it takes,

You are the person you want to be,

I am still finding me,

A new year and a new decade,

It is time to step out of the shade.

SOPHIE'S
COOKING TIPS

#1
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.

#2
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.

#3
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.

#4
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.

#5
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.

Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
