Back To Reality.

We are home.

I am not a home-bird but I am so happy to have my bed back & be on my normal food.

I have finally edited the video from my Dad's birthday meal at Haighton Manor - I did a blog at the time on the food and the atmosphere we experienced whilst being there. It was amazing and very enjoyable ! I highly recommend you all trying it.

Now been back home 🏡 I am able, to enjoy all my foods I have missed so much whilst being in Cuba.

Cuba has been amazing. The experiences were incredible, the people were SO kind & friendly, the vibe was great, there is SO much to see and explore and the sun was always out!

However when you go under the water a little deeper under the glossy, shimmering surface you see that the people still live off tight ratios and extremely bad qualities of food. There is still poverty within the country and many live with barely anything but still smile and laugh ( that in itself is super inspirational ).

Though they don't know any other way/ type of foods to know that what they are eating is the worst. The worst cuts of meat, the worst veggies and fruits, and importing snacks & rice from China because they are cheapest and have strong links to the country means products full of toxins aren't doing their bodies any good.

This I will be raising awareness about in my book. I feel that my book needs to be based on their food - the imports, what is in their drinks, veg and the growing of veggies, fruits and meats. ( I know I don't eat meat and I don't promote eating meat but meat is a MASSIVE part of the Cuban culture so I must bring it to the attention of my readers. As many do eat meat and adapt my recipes. Plus my books I write in hope to help travellers as a whole.)

I plan to sit down and really work out how my book will be planned out and written.

There is so many things I want to put in it and feel are required but I need to remember to keep some room for some yummy recipes too.

I am not in the best place health wise and although I still don't accept and wish it wasn't how it was whilst I was in Cuba, it has made me learn more, dig deeper into their food culture and understand the Cuba life more not just the tourist, surface scene.

Thank you Cuba 🇨🇺 for the amazing experiences I will forever cherish 💕 I hope to visit again soon.

Thank you for my book inspiration and I hope my research and work will also help you as a country be able to grow and progress. Helpoj g everyone benefit.

Love and peace to all.

Check out my video- don't forget to like, comment and subscribe and look forward to the Cuban videos.

I apologise for the lack of videos recently. Life has been manic and lots of things going on healthwise. I am thankful for all the Instagram support I receive daily, and just bare with me there will be lots more to come.

SOPHIE'S
COOKING TIPS

#1
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.

#2
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.

#3
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.

#4
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.

#5
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.

Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
